It is as if I am seeing the male deer of Big Pine Key coming back from warfare, as I note the injuries of the survivors of rutting season. This deer has sustained an injury to his nose yet still photographs well. My camera shied away from a male with a sunken cheekbone and another with a bulging injured eye that looked like it meet with the tip of an antler.
