Antlers in velvet are less than half grown, to be complete in time for rutting season in September.
As the fawn gets older and larger the spots fade out. This fawn is already being taught at this young age to be fearless of humans as his parents have probably been fed by people.
This is an older fawn as the spots are lighter. Maybe about 8 weeks old?
I was amazed how close I was able to get. If it were allowed I think I might have been able to touch him.
Nursing every chance he got! Growth rate is rapid.
This fawn can win a Nobel Prize for cuteness!!
No telephoto needed. I had to step back for this shot.
