I have not seen anybody at the Hang-Out since last month. The males seem to be scattering in preparation for rutting season. The peeling of the velvet is an indicator for the male herd to disperse as they look for females and develop harems. I saw a limping male with shredding velvet and wonder if the fighting has already begun.
This fawn and her mother are the same pair I have photographed once or twice before. It is a unique experience to watch baby deer grow up. This one is a doe, still with Mom and about four months old.
