After living in the Pacific Northwest for many years I still marvel at the beautiful weather (and still marvel at seeing the sun at all) here in Florida. HOT in December! Today at low tide the wind was about 9 knots, which gave the ocean a glassy, calm, surreal look. The deer were plentiful and unafraid and there seemed to be a bounty of snails to eat in the rock pools for a flock of Ibises. There are so many bucks on this island that Thor has plenty of competition. I don’t think I would like to see what happens when he meets his match – rutting season is coming to an end, I hope. It looks like he has succeeded well this year as I noticed several pregnant does. Now I await for the birth of the 2-4 pound fawns (gestation is about 200 days) this spring.
HAPPY 69th BIRTHDAY VANCE!
